Discussion for Tuesday

For Tuesday's discussion we will talk about digital literacy. You can read up on any resource regarding this topic. The following are some guide questions which can serve as a springboard for our discussion. They are:
1. What is your understanding of digital literacy? How do you define it? Ddoes it make use of a new medium? Characterize this medium.
2. When you talk of digital literacy, what is meant by the medium being "volatile?" As a case in point contrast a printed book with the digital medium. Comment on theidea of "intellectual property" in relation to this digital medium.
3. What does multimedia literacy do? What did it change in terms of Western cultural history?

The posts you have done so far are great reads! It reveals the personal styles and opinions of the members of the class both on academic concerns and other concerns as well. Comments, however, have been coming in trickles but I anticipate that you will get into the groove soon, and that we'll be seeing different threads emerging.

As a reminder, count your blog entries because by the end of this week, you are supposed to have 12 blogs and if you don't, you better start catching up. Remember it's three blog entries (on something discussed in class, on something else outside what we discussed in class and third, a comment on any of the blog entries of your classmates or a comment on their comment).

By the way, take note that you can also post your entries directly on virtual thoughts, this way your classmates get to see your entry at once. You can do this by going to the section entitled Contributors and then clicking on your name. This will allow you to make a post that will appear in our class blog (virtual thoughts).
